Holidays in Ibiza with your family is a great choice ‘cos there are many things you can do, from going to the beach, strolling through charming villages and tons of other different activities. A good idea, for example, is to organize a trip to Formentera, the neighboring island, located at just half an hour by boat.
A paradise of turquoise waters and white endless sand beaches that will not disappoint even the most demanding traveler.
To go to Formentera there are several options. You can go from the port of Ibiza town, where different ferry lines connect with the port of La Savina, in Formentera. Here the boat tickets are usually a little more expensive than the ferries leaving from Sant Antoni and Platja d’en Bossa, which have special offers for tourists.
The trip to Formentera takes between half an hour and one hour depending on the boat you choose. During the trip you can enjoy a very attractive landscape as it sails between little islets, over Posidonia seagrass meadows declared world heritage and you can see breathtaking views, such as to the walled city of Ibiza, Dalt Vila, and to the island of Espalmador.
Once you get to the port of La Savina, one option is to rent bicycles so that the tour through the island with your family and friends is more enjoyable, as all the roads have bicycle lanes and the island is small so touring Formentera with this transport method is a good option. But if you prefer you can also rent motorcycles or a car.
In Formentera there are truly stunning beaches. The most popular one is Ses Illetes, a vast and pristine beach with white sand and crystalline waters, located in the heart of the Natural Park of Ses Salines. It also has numerous restaurants specialized in fresh fish recipes and rice dishes. The most popular ones are Es Molí de Sal, El Beso beach club and Juan y Andrea.
Other amazing beaches are Migjorn with transparent and pristine waters, the beautiful beach cove of Cala Saona, and Es Caló, a small fishing port with a restaurant, Can Rafalet, specialized in paellas.
Other places that are worth visiting in Formentera are the lighthouses of La Mola and Cap de Barbaria and the craft market of La Mola.
Another good Idea for the whole family in Ibiza is doing a diving course.
The island has over 200 kilometers of spectacular coastline with exceptional sea bottoms with Posidonia seagrass meadows (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO), corals and many sea species and sea life, such as dolphins. Ibiza also has warm waters, with 26º C in summer.
In the island of Ibiza there’s plenty of PADI certified diving centers with top level professional instructors, offering courses, immersions and quality facilities.
One of them is Punta Dive, with centers in Port des Torrent, Cala Llonga, Platja d’en Bossa and Cala Martina. Their instructors speak English, Italian and Spanish and offers the possibility to visit the most fabulous seabeds on the island.
Other diving center is Scuba Ibiza, claiming to be the only diving center on the island with a PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Center certificate. It’s located in the marina of Ibiza town, Marina Botafoch.
